Just in time to celebrate the orchids featured in the Spring Art Exhibition, learn how to care for your own orchids! Learn from Selby Gardens’ orchid expert how to keep these precious plants happy, healthy, and in bloom. In this introductory horticulture workshop, participants will be presented with the basics of watering strategies, potting and soil, humidity, temperature, light requirements, and much more!  

 

All flowers and potting supplies are provided for the demos. Students take home the orchids and planting materials prepared in class. Ideal for hobbyists! Open to all ages/skill levels. General admission is included in the course fee. 

 

All materials for this horticulture class are covered in the tuition. You will be working with live plants, wire, and gardening tools; feel free to bring a favorite pair of gardening gloves, hand pruners, and/or safety glasses. 

 

Please meet outside the Payne Mansion's iron gate around 10:20 to be checked-in for your 10:30 start time. The best address to use as reference is 800 S Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236. The parking lot is located across the street from the provided address.
